A Bit About Me

 

 

     I am a mother of 3 beautiful children (14,15 & 18) and have a wonderful husband of 19yrs! I work part time at our local Pet Store. Was raised on a farm and have always loved animals of every type! Here at home we have goats, ducks, a horse, a pony, 2 dogs, 5 cats, a snake and of course our wonderful House Pig SHELDON!

     

When we first got Sheldon it was more of a whim decision. My oldest daughter really wanted a house pig and my husband thought every house should have a pig living in it. So when we had seen some at our local fall fair and decided she could have one.

   

 At first it was quite different to have a pig in the house. Many of my friends thought we had gone mad! We live on a farm yet the pig is in the house! We have had farm pigs in the past, but having one in the home is so much different. They have the neatest personalities and love to be loved. They are more like toddler humans when raised in the home!

   

 I found that because they are short, stocky and strong that a dog or cat harness just didn't seem to fit right. I had to make my own harness for our Sheldon! So thats just what I did and when I showed it to a friend that also had a mini pig she had asked if I could make hers one to. Soon word got around and I started my business, "Sheldon's Own". I never imagined that there was so many pigs out there also looking for a comfortable harness made just for them! I enjoy making all my customers (2 and 4 legged) happy with my harnesses. I hand make every one myself! I am always trying to improve them if possible so feel free at any time to let me know how I could improve them!
